Planning the Documentary

Framing of each interview:

> This is the title sequence for our programe. We want to film a male's face in big close up looking from left to right as the spider moves from left to right and we also want a shot of a male with sweat going down his forehead and then the title appears.

> This is the single frame of the voxpops, which will be set in the streets, therefore the mise en scene might include people walking past.

> This is the single frame of the interview with the people afraid of spiders. It will be framed to the left, in medium close up and the mise en scene will be images of spiders filling the wall.

> This is the single frame of the interview with the person afraid of tall buildings. The mise en scene will be the cathedral behind her and we will have her framed to the left.

> This is the single frame of the person who owns a spider as a pet. We might interview him and if we do, we will have him framed to the left and in big close up.

> This is the single frame of the hypnotherapist. He will be framed to the left and in big close up.

Mobile Phones Task

Me and my group made this short documentary on phones and the purpose of this task is to practise filming and editing interviews:

We then played this to the rest of the class and they gave us feedback on how to improve. For example, some said that the interview could've been framed more to the left as it seemed too central. Also, we could've used a better mise en scene which relates to the topic more clearly, so instead of the one poster we used, we could have filled the whole wall with posters. The positive feedback we recieved was that the cutaways were good and the class liked our choice of music and they also said one of our strengths lies in the editing as we did not include any jump cuts. This this task has helped us understand how to film and edit interviews better and hopefully not make the same mistakes when producing our documentary.
