Audience Feedback

The purpose of audience feedback is to find out how effective my media product is in terms of it being informative, entertaining, its technical quality and if my target audience thinks it could be comparable to professional documentaries. The first way I gained feedback from the audience is by viewing the documentary, radio trailer and newspaper advert to the class and making them fill this brief questionnaire.

Also, in order to gain more feedback, I have shared my media product and ancillary texts on You Tube and on social networking sites:

Introduction to Ancillary texts

As part of our production, we have to also produce a newspaper advert and a radio trailer which promotes our documentary. Therefore, we have decided that Becky would carry on editing the documentary, whilst I create the radio trailer and Poppy creates the newspaper advertisement.

Filming-Interview with Psychology Teacher

Similarly to the interview with the hypnotherapist, the interview with the psychologist was also filmed in big close up because we couldn't find a really good mise en scene. The answers he gave us were very detailed and we have an idea of how to link one of his answers with one of the answers from the interview with the people afraid of spiders.

Filming of Fears for Montage

My group went to New Brighton to film footage for the montage that we will use at the beginning of the documentary, such as seagulls, ducks and the beach. I filmed the tarantula for the opening title sequence and my neighbour let me film more footage of the tarantula in his house to use as cutaways for the interview with people afraid of spiders.

Filming- Fear of Spiders Interviews

This interview with 3 people afraid of spiders was not bad. We used two cameras; one to film the interview and another to film the cutaways such as a close up of the interviewee's eyes or hands shaking. However, we know that we can do better, therefore we will film people afraid of spiders another time and use a better mise en scene that will not distract the audience because in these interviews, the door was in the frame.

Filming- Fear of Tall Buildings Interview and Voxpops

We filmed the interview with Aislynn about her fear of tall buildings. As you can see, we've chosen to film her outside the Anglican cathedral in Liverpool, therefore this mise en scene clearly illustrates what she's talking about. Also, during the journey to Liverpool, we filmed her on the bus as she talked about how she feels about going to face her fear and we the interview with her was really good as she answered in detail. Also, we filmed footage of tall buildings in Liverpool such as the Radio City tower and different types of shots of the cathedral itself. Furthermore, we filmed the voxpops outside the train station and in the centre of Liverpool and was pleased with the variety of answers we received which we will include in our documentary.
